Corporate merch for sports teams and clubs in Spain

A working guide for Spanish sports teams — La Liga football, ACB basketball, Asobal handball, Liga rugby, Formula 1 and MotoGP — on how to brief match-day merchandise, retail catalogues, fan loyalty packs, sponsor activations and corporate-event kits.

Spain's sports landscape

Spain runs one of the most diverse professional sports landscapes in Europe. La Liga (with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club, Real Sociedad, Real Betis, Sevilla FC, Valencia CF, Villarreal CF, plus the long tail of mid-table and second-division clubs), the ACB basketball league (Real Madrid Baloncesto, FC Barcelona Basket, Baskonia, Valencia Basket, Joventut, Gran Canaria, Unicaja, plus the second-tier LEB Oro), the Asobal handball league (FC Barcelona Handbol, BM Granollers, Bidasoa Irun, plus the Spanish national team), the Liga rugby (with the Spanish Rugby Federation and the División de Honor clubs), the Liga F (women's football), the Formula 1 and MotoGP events at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and the Circuito de Jerez, plus the tennis (the Mutua Madrid Open, the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, the Valencia Open), the sailing circuits (the Copa del Rey, the Puig Women's America's Cup), and the long tail of regional sports (the Galician, Basque, Catalan and Andalusian federations).

Each sport briefs merch slightly differently, but the procurement rules converge on a few points. The items have to be Pantone-true (Delta-E ≤ 2.5) because the team colours are the brand. The production has to handle the season's rhythm — pre-season launch (July–August), mid-season push (December–January), end-of-season push (April–May), and the summer tour (June–July). And the documentation has to handle the licensing agreements that govern the use of the team's crest, the league's marks, and the sponsor's marks.

Match-day and team-store merchandise

The flagship spend. Every Spanish professional team runs a team store programme — the on-site store at the stadium, the online store, the regional partner stores, the seasonal pop-ups. The catalogue covers the standing range (the home shirt, the away shirt, the third shirt, the training kit) plus the seasonal rotation (the pre-match tee, the warm-up tee, the post-match celebration tee).

Common items at the €25–€150 tier: the home shirt (€80–€120), the away shirt (€80–€120), the training shirt (€45–€70), the track jacket (€60–€100), the training pant (€45–€70), the supporter scarf (€15–€30), the supporter flag (€15–€30), the team cap (€20–€35), the replica trophy (€20–€60), the stadium blanket (€30–€60).

Lead time for the seasonal launch is 6–8 weeks. The supplier works to the team's brand book, produces the range in the team's licence, and ships to the team store before the launch date. Replenishment runs on a 5–7 working day cycle throughout the season.

Player and squad apparel

The high-touch brief. Every Spanish professional team runs a player and squad apparel programme — the match-day kit (shirt, short, sock), the training kit (training shirt, training pant, training top), the travel kit (tracksuit, polo, casual wear), the formal kit (shirt, tie, blazer). Volumes per squad run 25–80 players, with three kits per player per season.

The brief is exacting because every kit has to comply with the league's technical and brand regulations (the La Liga sleeve badge, the ACB sponsor patch, the Liga F sponsor mark), the team's brand book, and the sponsor's brand book. Embroidery and screen-printing on apparel; sublimation on polyester training wear; woven labels for the team's mark on the inside seam.

Fan loyalty and membership packs

The growing brief. Most Spanish professional teams run a fan loyalty programme — Real Madrid's Madridista, FC Barcelona's Culers, Atlético de Madrid's Atleti Plus, Athletic Club's Bazkideak, Real Betis's Béticos, Valencia CF's Murciélagos. The membership tiers usually run from the basic free tier to the premium tier (€100–€500 per year), with annual gifts at the higher tiers.

Common gifts at the membership tier: a member card (printed PVC), a member-only scarf, a member-only cap, a small accessory (a pin, a keychain, a sticker sheet), an early-access voucher for the seasonal launch. Premium tiers add a leather-look travel wallet, a curated Spanish product selection, a numbered print, a hand-signed item from a player.

Sponsor activations

The B2B brief. Every Spanish professional team runs a sponsor activation programme — the on-shirt sponsor, the sleeve sponsor, the training-kit sponsor, the stadium-naming sponsor, the official-partner sponsors. Each sponsor receives a merchandise allocation tied to the activation: a co-branded shirt for the on-shirt sponsor, a co-branded training top for the training-kit sponsor, a co-branded promotional item for the official partners.

The brief is small in unit count (typically 50–500 per sponsor) but tight in specification. The dual brand-book approval (the team's brand book and the sponsor's brand book) usually requires sign-off from both teams and adds 2–3 weeks to the timeline.

Motorsport, tennis and sailing merchandise

The motorsport and tournament brief. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and the Circuito de Jerez host the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix each year. The Mutua Madrid Open, the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, the Valencia Open, the Copa del Rey de Vela, the Puig Women's America's Cup all run substantial merchandise programmes tied to the event.

The brief is similar to other event briefs but with two additional constraints. First, the merch has to comply with the international federation's brand book (the FIA, the FIM, the ATP, the WTA, World Sailing). Second, the merch has to comply with the show's rules on advertising — some shows prohibit certain logos, certain colours, or certain gift values. Suppliers do not provide legal opinions on trademark use; that remains a legal matter between the team, the federation and the sponsor.

Decoration techniques for sports-team brand books

Sports-team brand books are tight: one or two Pantones, a specific typeface, a defined lock-up that incorporates the team's crest and the league's mark. Three decoration techniques hold the brand best across the items that sports-team briefs tend to use.

Sublimation on polyester match-day and training wear — the dye becomes part of the fibre, the Pantone holds over years of wear and industrial laundering.

Embroidery on cotton apparel and caps holds the team's mark over years of wear.

Silk-screen on cotton for supporter tees, scarves and totes. Solid Pantones hit Delta-E ≤ 2.5 reliably.

Logistics and tax

Production runs from the Madrid hub reach teams in Madrid, Toledo and Guadalajara next morning. Teams in Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao and Palma arrive in 24 hours; Sevilla, Málaga and the Canarias in 48–72 hours. For match-day merchandise, we ship to the stadium or the team store before the match date and replenish the on-site stock on a express cycle during the match.

IVA 21% applies on domestic shipments. For international player transfers, sponsorships and licensing, the merch supplier's invoice carries the export declaration filed by the carrier.

FAQ — corporate merch for sports teams

How long does a seasonal launch take to produce?

Standard 6–8 weeks from artwork approval to delivery at the team store. Compressing to 3 weeks is possible at a +35% rush surcharge, but Pantone accuracy on the first run will be tighter.

Can you replenish team stores during the season?

Yes. We hold a buffer stock at the Madrid hub for the most popular items (home shirt, away shirt, scarf, cap) and replenish on a 5–7 working day cycle per store. Match-day replenishment runs on a express cycle during home fixtures.

Do you handle the player's match-day kit?

Yes. We work to the team's brand book and the league's technical regulations. The kit includes the match-day shirt, short and sock, plus the training kit and the travel kit. Production lead time is 8–12 weeks per kit.

Do you handle sponsor co-branded merchandise?

We manage the production artwork once both the team and the sponsor have signed off on the lock-up, the Pantone and the typography. Trademark clearance between the team and the sponsor remains a legal matter between them.

Is Corp-Merch an official supplier of any Spanish sports team?

No. Corp-Merch is an independent corporate-merchandise supplier. We have no partnership, sponsorship or official-supplier relationship with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club, Real Sociedad, Real Betis, Sevilla FC, Valencia CF, Villarreal CF, Baskonia, Valencia Basket, FC Barcelona Handbol, the Spanish national football team, the Spanish national basketball team or any other Spanish sports team or federation. References to those teams describe the market context, not a contractual affiliation.
