Built to shortlist a range

The two matrices in this section exist to shortlist. The type matrix answers the question a buyer asks first, which is what we should actually be giving people, by pairing each product type with the sectors, audiences and settings where it is used. The method matrix answers the second question, which is how we put the mark on it, by pairing each decoration method with the products it behaves well on. Together they cover five hundred and sixty-one combinations, and they are the fastest way to build a range from scratch or to check one you already have.

The entries are short by design. Each names the combination, the reason it works and the condition that has to hold, such as a minimum order quantity or a garment colour. The limits are the useful part. Many of these combinations would look wrong in a catalogue and work in practice, and the reason is usually a constraint the catalogue does not print: a screen print needs a flat panel, an embroidery thread has a minimum stitch width, a sublimation panel has to be polyester. Where a combination does not work, the matrix says that too.

Type against sector, and method against product

The type matrix comes first and the method matrix second. Both are alphabetical, so a specific combination can be reached directly. The matrices are listed separately below.

Questions about the matrices

How were the combinations chosen?

From the programmes we have actually run. Each entry reflects a combination that was ordered and produced rather than a theoretical pairing.

Does a combination listed here guarantee availability?

No. Availability depends on the stock position and the production route at the time of the order. The matrix tells you whether the combination makes sense.

Can we order a combination that is not listed?

Usually yes. The matrix covers the combinations we run regularly, and we can quote most others.
