Corporate merch for medtech and medical-device suppliers in Spain
A working guide for Spanish medtech companies, medical-device manufacturers and digital-health suppliers on how to brief HCP kits, trade-show merchandise, regulatory-compliant giveaways, employee recognition and partner gifts under the EU MDR framework.
Why medtech merch is a category of its own
Spain's medtech sector — clustered around Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Sevilla, Valencia and Murcia — operates under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745), the AEMPS (Agencia Española de Medicamentos y Productos Sanitarios) national framework, and the industry's voluntary transparency codes (MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice, Farmaindustria's Código de Buenas Prácticas). Branded merchandise sits at the intersection of those rules: it has to communicate the brand, comply with the gift-value caps for healthcare professionals (HCPs), and avoid any promotional language that could be read as promoting a prescription product off-label.
Three characteristics define the category. First, every gift to an HCP is capped by the Farmaindustria code (currently €60 per item per year, with cumulative gifts rarely above €150). Second, every gift has to be logged in the company's transparency register and disclosed annually. Third, every item has to clear the medical, legal and regulatory (MLR) review before the order is released — a process that can add 2–3 weeks to the timeline.
HCP kits and congress giveaways
The flagship spend. Spanish medtech companies exhibit at the major European congresses — the European Society of Cardiology congress, the European Respiratory Society congress, the European Society for Medical Oncology congress, the SEC (Sociedad Española de Cardiología), the SEIMC, the SEOR, the SEPA, plus the specialty national meetings. Each congress needs a booth kit, attendee giveaways and HCP-targeted gifts.
The standard HCP kit at a Spanish medtech congress: a printed tote (organic cotton at €3–€6), a notebook (recycled paper at €3–€6), a pen (€1.50–€3), a small accessory (a USB-C cable, a phone stand, a printed stress ball at €2–€5), and a printed brochure (€0.50–€2). Total per-HCP cost lands at €10–€22 ex-IVA for a thoughtful mix. Above €60/unit, the kit triggers the Farmaindustria cap and requires MLR sign-off.
Trade-show kits for Medica and Arab Health
The international brief. Spanish medtech primes and tier-1 suppliers exhibit at Medica Düsseldorf (the world's largest medtech trade show), Arab Health in Dubai, the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in the US. Each show needs a booth kit, attendee giveaways and VIP packs.
The kit is similar to other trade shows but with tighter MLR review and tighter gift-value discipline. The supplier's role is to provide a kit that complies with the Farmaindustria code for Spanish HCPs, with the MedTech Europe code for EU HCPs, and with the show's rules for the international audience.
Partner gifts and key opinion leader packs
The relationship-tier brief. Spanish medtech companies run a key opinion leader (KOL) programme — advisory boards, speaker bureaus, clinical investigators, training faculty. The gift programme at this tier is capped by the Farmaindustria code (€60/item/year per HCP) and has to be logged in the transparency register.
Common gifts at this tier: a leather-look notebook (€25–€50, debossed), a stainless-steel pen (€15–€30, laser-engraved), a curated Spanish product selection (€30–€60, in a printed box), a printed educational brochure (€2–€6), or a small accessory that supports the HCP's clinical practice (a printed atlas, a pocket reference card, a USB drive with the educational content).
Employee recognition and long-service awards
Every Spanish medtech company runs a long-service programme — typically at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of service — plus an annual recognition cycle for the values-driven awards (innovation, patient impact, collaboration, scientific excellence). The merch at this tier is more personal: a watch, a leather briefcase, a custom pen-and-notebook set, a framed certificate of recognition.
Decoration techniques for medtech brand books
Medtech brand books are usually tight: one or two Pantones (often a clinical blue or green), a specific typeface, a defined lock-up that incorporates the regulatory mark or the company's ISO certification. Three decoration techniques hold the brand best across the items that medtech briefs tend to use.
Silk-screen on cotton for totes and tees — organic cotton at 220 gsm with GOTS certification is now the default for medtech tote programmes. Solid Pantones hit Delta-E ≤ 2.5 reliably.
Embroidery on apparel and caps holds the corporate mark over years of wear and industrial laundering.
Laser engraving and debossing on metal and leather-look PU — for premium notebooks, presentation boxes, gift sets.
MDR, AEMPS and Farmaindustria compliance
Spanish medtech companies have to operate under the EU MDR, the AEMPS national framework, and the Farmaindustria code. The merch programme sits inside those rules. Suppliers do not provide legal opinions on the MDR classification of an item, but they can flag obvious dual-use items (high-power LED lights, certain electronics, encryption-enabled USB drives) so the buyer's compliance team can clear them before the order ships.
Above the Farmaindustria cap (€60/item/year per HCP), the gift triggers enhanced MLR review and has to be declared in the company's transparency register. The supplier provides a per-recipient invoice to support the declaration.
Sustainability and CSRD documentation
Spanish medtech companies reporting under CSRD need a documented trail behind every fibre. GOTS-certified organic cotton for apparel and totes. OEKO-TEX 100 for skin-contact textiles. FSC paper for printed materials. GRS-certified recycled polyester for woven labels. rPET for hard goods. The certificate number — not the marketing claim — is what ties the merch back to the annual sustainability report and to the AEMPS reporting framework.
Logistics and tax
Production runs from the Madrid hub reach medtech companies in Madrid, Toledo and Guadalajara next morning. Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao and Palma arrive in 24 hours; Sevilla, Málaga and Murcia in 24–48 hours; the Canarias in 48–72 hours. For international congresses (Medica, Arab Health), we ship via tracked road and air freight with the commercial invoice and the export paperwork the carrier requires.
IVA 21% applies on domestic shipments; intra-community shipments to other EU countries are zero-rated with the corresponding VAT number on the invoice. Export shipments outside the EU are zero-rated with the export declaration filed by the carrier.

FAQ — corporate merch for medtech
What is the Farmaindustria gift cap for HCPs?
Currently €60 per item per HCP per year, with cumulative gifts rarely above €150 per HCP per year. Above the cap, the gift triggers MLR review and has to be declared in the company's transparency register.
How long does an HCP congress kit take to produce?
Standard 6 weeks from artwork approval to delivery at the congress venue, including MLR sign-off. Compressing to 3 weeks is possible at a +35% rush surcharge, but MLR sign-off will still take 2 weeks.
Can you ship medtech merch outside the EU?
Yes — we ship worldwide via tracked road and air freight with the commercial invoice and any export paperwork the carrier requires. Items that fall under EU dual-use controls are flagged for the buyer's compliance team before shipping.
Do you provide a per-recipient transparency register invoice?
Yes. We provide a per-recipient packing list and a per-recipient invoice to support the company's Farmaindustria transparency register disclosure.
Is Corp-Merch an official supplier of any Spanish medtech company?
No. Corp-Merch is an independent corporate-merchandise supplier. We have no partnership, sponsorship or official-supplier relationship with any Spanish medtech company, hospital, AEMPS or Farmaindustria member. References to those entities describe the market context, not a contractual affiliation.
