Recycled vs virgin cotton
Recycled (GRS): 91% lower water use, lower-cost ESG claim, slightly shorter staple-fibre. Virgin organic (GOTS): premium hand-feel, longer fibre, higher price, ideal for executive heritage merch.
Recycled cotton — ESG and circular
GRS-certified post-consumer recycled cotton uses 91% less water than virgin equivalent, qualifies for ESG-aligned merch programmes, and carries chain-of-custody documentation for sustainability-report inclusion. Staple-fibre is 2-4mm shorter than virgin, giving a slightly textured hand-feel — perfect for branded t-shirts, totes, and onboarding-kit merch where ESG credentials matter more than ultra-premium feel.
Virgin organic — premium tactile
GOTS-certified virgin organic cotton has longer staple-fibres (28-32mm vs 24-28mm recycled), giving a smoother, more premium hand-feel. Ideal for executive-tier polos, heritage-brand sweatshirts, and high-end gifting kits where tactile quality is paramount. Price is 20-35% higher than GRS-recycled. Both options carry OEKO-Tex 100; choose based on whether the recipient values circularity or premium feel.
